Pune FC set yet another landmark as the first batch of the Pune Football Club Academy (PFCA) graduated on Sunday.
The convocation was held in Pune and celebrated the success of 20 who completed PFCAs two-year (July 2011 to June 2013) residential programme.
Meanwhile, five players have been retained for the next batch.
PFCAs first batch had the distinction of making Indian footballing history by winning the newly-formulated Under-20 I-League twice in a row. The first title at Kalyani (2011-12),in fact, was in PFCAs maiden year, while the second at Jamshedpur (2012-13) seemed to reinforce the credibility of the Pune FC academy programme.
Apart from wining Indias premier youth title,PFCA time and again remained a regular supply-line in players going on to support district, state and National teams in their respective campaigns.
Each of the 20 cadets were awarded a Certificate of Excellence during the convocation.
