Two held for gangrape

The Hadapsar police have arrested two persons on charges of gangraping a 35-year-old married woman on April 30. The suspects have been identified as Rayappa D’Monty (35) of Fatima Nagar and Mohan Jayvant Hegde (43) of Wanavdi.

Police said the woman works as a domestic help and her husband is addicted to liquor. She has two sons and a handicapped daughter. Rayappa allegedly forced her into a physical relationship three years ago on assurances that he would look after her children and give her land and an apartment. On April 30,he took the woman to Hegde’s house in Wanavdi where the duo allegedly gangraped her. Senior police inspector P G Mandhare is investigating the case.
