Trapped in truck after multi-vehicle collision, 2 men rescued by fire brigade in Pune’s Chakan

The Chakan MIDC fire brigade rescued two people trapped inside a vehicle that got crushed in an accident involving a tempo truck, a lorry and a container truck at Shel Pimpalgaon village on the Chakan-Shikrapur road early on Saturday.

Vishal Shriram Kaldate and Vaibhav Rajendra Kaldate, both residents of Jamkhed in Ahmednagar district aged around 25, were taken to a hospital and provided treatment. The police have launched a probe.

Officers informed the Chakan MIDC police station that two men were stuck inside the tempo truck that suffered heavy damages in the accident. A team comprising Assistant Fire Officer Rajesh Pharande, and firemen V A Pawar, V V Khedkar, S A Kulal and L H Kachare rushed for help.

“Two men were stuck inside the driver’s cabin. We rescued the injured persons by cutting the tempo truck using a hydraulic cutter and other equipment. The rescue operation lasted about an hour,” said Pharande.
