Three-year-old boy drowns in rainwater pond in Bhosari

Last week, four teenage girls had fallen into a trench filled with rain water near Mahakali temple on Katraj-Kondhwa Road.

A THREE-year-old boy drowned in a pond created due to accumulation of rainwater on an uneven patch of land in Chakrapani Vasahat in Bhosari on Monday afternoon.

The incident took place around 2.30 pm next to a temporary settlement of labourers on an uneven patch of land in in Bhosari. Police have identified the deceased as Ganesh Balaji Manjalwar (3), whose parents are labourers.

“On Monday afternoon, Ganesh and two-three other children from the settlement were playing next to some ponds that have been created due to accumulation of water on the uneven surface. A while later, the children playing with Ganesh came running to his mother and told her that Ganesh had fallen in the pond. His mother rushed to the spot and took him out. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the doctors,” said an officer from Bhosari police station.
