From rare bow and arrow coins,gold mohurs of Indian kings and emperors to the coins of today,this exhibition will trace the history of coins. The sixth Coinex-Pune exhibition,organised by the International Collectors’ Society of Rare Items,Pune,will be held from December 9-11,at Sankalp Hall,L B Shastri Road,Navi Peth. Following its motto – Knowledge Through Hobbies – the exhibition’s aim is to educate people about the need to preserve our culture and heritage. The target audience is the younger generation so that they learn about the importance of coins that depict thousands of years of history as well as cultural progress. A lifetime achievement award will be given to Dr K K Maheshwari,founder of Indian Institutes of Numismatic Studies and Research at Anjineri near Nashik. Several lectures on historical and ancient coins are also on the agenda by Pankaj Tandon from the USA,and Girish Sharma from Indore. A souvenir consisting of articles and essays by eminent numismatists from India and abroad will also be released. This exhibition will coincide with the Coin Auction by Oswal Antiques in Mumbai on December 10 wherein ancient,medieval,Mughal,Princely State,British India,Republic of India,foreign coins and paper money will be auctioned.
