Students of Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya held an agitation against the management alleging that its campuses on Tilak Road and Pashan are not maintained and that the secretary has been demanding extra money,other than fees,from students.
According to the students,the college has been demanding Rs 200 per month from students for using the college toilet. The management has threatened that students who refuse to pay will not be allowed to take the exam. The students,in a press note,stated that some teachers have been abruptly transferred from Tilak Road branch to Pashan and vice versa,a class room has been divided to make space for the library,all cultural activities of the college like annual day,sports activities,wall paintings day and so on,have been suspended.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena,the youth wing of MNS,has supported the agitation. A letter by the MNVS to the college principal states that members of the college management must resign if they are incapable to fulfill the students demands.
