Std XII jumps off sixth floor to death

As per preliminary information, Saurabh’s father dropped him to the the building where the Deepa Pathak Chemistry Class is located in the Brilliant Society in Kothrud.

A 17-year-old student of Std XII allegedly committed suicide Monday morning by jumping off the terrace of the sixth floor of a building where his coaching class is located.

Police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the suicide.

Kothrud police have identified boy as Saurabh Shyam Bharekar, a resident of Kothrud and a student of MIT Junior College.

As per preliminary information, Saurabh’s father dropped him to the the building where the Deepa Pathak Chemistry Class is located in the Brilliant Society in Kothrud.

However, Saurabh did not go the class, where a test was scheduled. He is suspected to have gone to the sixth floor of the building where washrooms are located. He jumped from the terrace by climbing the sidewall, police suspect.

Inspector Dilip Kulkarni of Kothrud police station said, “House of union minister Prakash Javadekar is located near the building where the incident took place. So some policemen were present there for security. Two of them rushed to the spot and took Saurabh to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. But he succumbed to his injuries sometime later during treatment.”

“As of now, we have not been able to ascertain the reason why he took the extreme step. We will be speaking his parents and friends. We have come to know that he was a brilliant student and had got very good grades in his SSC and Std XI exams. He was also regular to his classes in college and in the coaching class. We will start recording statements soon,” inspector Kulkarni said.
