SPPU holds 122nd convocation; 1,21,281 students receive degrees

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) held its 122nd Convocation ceremony amidst much fanfare on Friday at the Khashaba Jadhav Indoor Sports Complex. Degree certificates were awarded to under graduate, post graduate, PhD and external students from across disciplines.
A total of 1,21,281 students passed out in the April/May 2022-23 session.

There were 96,983 undergraduate students, 26, 454 post graduate students, 438 PhD students and 11 MPhil students.

Present at the event, Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of SPPU Rajesh Bais emphasised the focus on quality higher education for nation building as foregrounded in the National Education Policy 2020.
“As the world’s youngest country, India should be leading the world in the near future,” he said during his address to the students.
He also called for artificial intelligence to be incorporated in the curriculum of the university to keep it dynamic.
