MIT school wins archery championship
Five students of the MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul World School won laurels for their school after they won medals at the 10th Senior Maharashtra State Archery Championship 2011-12 that was held on January 7 at Hingoli. Priya Bhesaniya,a class 10th student,won a gold and two silver medals at the tournament. She was also selected for the Senior National Archery Competition that will be held at Jamshedpur from Monday.
Snooker: Rawat edges past Rentheli
Laxman Rawat of Delhi scored a 4 frames to 1 win over top seeded Lalrina Rentheli in a round robin encounter in the junior snooker semifinal stage at the Manisha Constructions National Billiards and Snooker Championship. The championship was organised by Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra (BSAM) at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana on Saturday. In the first league match of the semifinals stage,Rawat played a calculated game to edge past the top seed Rentheli 106(31,45)-14,69-61,14-96,89-14,68-29 .In the second league encounter,Andhra player Himanshu Jain scored a 41-52,72-13,40-64(43),63(31)-15,70(45)-52,70-1 win over Delhis Lalit Dahiya. Rawat,Rentheli,Jain and Dahiya made it to the last four stage of the event.
Lakshya Shooter wins Gold Medal in Doha
Lakshya-SSK supported shooter and pistol shooter from Chandigarh,Ajitesh Kaushal won an individual gold medal and team gold medal with a score of 548 in the 25m Standard Pistol Men Junior event at the Asian Shooting Championships in Doha. Speaking from Doha,Kaushal said he was happy to win the medal and his stint in Balewadi helped him alot.Kaushal had been training at the Gun for Glory Academy at the Balewadi Stadium,Pune.
Sports meet from January 25
International School of Business and Media will be organising the 11th edition of their annual national sports meet Runbhoomi from January 25- 29 at the ISB&M,Nande Campus,Pune. The four-day event will see participation from more than 100 colleges across India. This year Run bhoomi will play host to two Indian Premier League players Luv Ablish and Sarabjeet Singh Ladda. Students will be seen battling in different sports events including Cricket,Football and Basketball to name a few.
Sports fest concludes today
FLAME (Foundation for Liberal And Management Education) annual sports event Kurukshetra 2012 that has been on since January 19 will conclude on Sunday. The chief guest for the event will be Cueist Geet Sethi. The closing ceremony will be held at the LAME campus in Lavale.
