After an encouraging first season, the Pune Fashion Week is back with round two. This year this mega fashion event will be held from November 18-20 at the Westin and it promises to be bigger, grander and replete with all elements of the fashion culture.

With big designer names on the list, the show will come alive with festive and winter collections that will be high on colour, detailing, ornamentation and style. Badal Saboo,MD,PFW,remarked at the announcement of the Fashion Week,“Fashion is very serious business. It isn’t frivolous entertainment. Our goal here is to get Pune on the national fashion map. And for that,we’ve looked into every detail right from the backstage volunteers to the new logo.”

The list of designers boasts of names like Rocky S,Vikram Phadnis,Satya Paul,Nandita Mahtani,Raakesh Agarwal,Mandira Wirk,Surily Goel,Malini Agarwala and Pune’s Nivedita Saboo,Seema Singh and Deepak Shah. In all, there will be four shows everyday that will treat Pune’s fashion lovers to 12 collections and one accessories collection. Saboo adds,“We will also have stalls of beauty and cosmetics as well as a premium luxury brand. The whole atmosphere will be charged with the energy of a fashion week.” The event will also see the launch of the PFW Magazine and the Fashion Retail Awards.

Designer Vikram Phadnis, who is on the advisory board along with Nivedita Saboo, says,“We have roped in 36 models from Mumbai and Delhi, who will join models from Pune on the ramp.” Phadnis’ collection will be the same that he showcased at the India Bridal Week on Monday. He adds,“But it isn’t just about lehengas or sarees. The collection will tell a story – ‘India Through My Eyes’. I am even opposing the practice of Sati with an all-black collection.” Nivedita Saboo too is as excited about the showcasing of her collection. “I have drawn inspiration from in and around Morocco. The clothes will have basic colours as well as brighter tones and a lot of detailing.” Other designers present at the media announcement were Deepak Shah and Seema Singh. While Shah’s collection will focus on all aspects of menswear,Singh’s collection is touted to be daring yet delicate. “It’s about subtle fabrics and flamboyant colours,” she says. Well, seems like there will be quite a dash for those front row seats!
