With the IPL frenzy catching up with each passing day,cricket seems to be the language of the city. Taking the craze further,Pratapgad warriors,finalists of Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) were felicitaded by Jackie Shroff,actor and Sailesh and Parul Mehta,owners of Ishanya,where Full on – Pune’s own 43 Days of Live IPL Cricketing Action is going on. Speaking on the occasion,Jackie Shroff,said,“I am excited to be here. The crowd is even more enthusiastic and lively,than in an actual stadium. This comes as an good opportunity for cricket fans,who couldn’t make it to the stadium to be her and catch the action live on big screen.” After being felicitated,Satyajit Satbhai,captain of Pratapgad Warriors,says,“We are honored to be felicitated and are thankful to people for their support and for appreciating our talent. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the match,under the open sky.” Two of the members of the Pratapgad Warriors,Parag More and Aditya Dole have already started playing for the IPL. The next year,when Pune joins the IPL band,many more from this team are likely to be a part of the Pune IPL team.

Music in the air
NPCA — P L Deshpande foundation and Ganvardhan is organising a musical programme on April 3 at Manohar Mangal Karyalya at Erandwana in which Anjali Malkar and Jui Dhaigude-Pande will be performing. The event would be one of the many events organised by Ganvardhan in propagating Indian music through public programmes. While Malkar is a student of Pt Veena Sahastrabudhe and Dr Vikas Kashalkar,Jui Dhaigude-Pande is a disciple of Sheela Joshi. While Milind Pote will accompany them on tabla,Avinash Patil,Pravin Kashilkar and Abhijit Pataskar on harmonium. Vandana Khandekar is the chief guest for the event.

Her story
Aruna Jethwani’s second novel- Dance O’ Peacock was launched on Tuesday at Poona club by the renowned danseuse Yogini Gandhi. Dance O’ Peacock is about a woman’s journey from an orthodox Rajput background to her statement of identity of an independent woman. “The novel opens up uncomfortable questions about the biological and social status of a woman. Dance O’ Peacock is a truly engaging account of a woman’s search for love,meaning and calling. It’s a search for her own self,” says Jethwani,an award winning author,writer and an educationist. She has to her credit two novels,two self-help books,two books of poetry,one biography and has edited a collection of short stories. Also present on the occasion were well known personalities from various fields such as- Dr Gulshan Gidwani,Saaz Agarwal,Dr Sita Bhatia,Satish Khot and R A Vaswani,chairperson,SV Mision.
