Improvement of public transport has been mentioned as his focus by BJP candidate Anil Shirole in his manifesto which was released on Thursday. Projecting this as the major concern before the Pune Lok Sabha constituency,he said that transport issues need to be addressed as Pune was growing with many coming from other parts of the country settling here. In his manifesto ,Shirole promises PMPML buses running at a frequency of five minutes on main routes, drop in existing fare, more buses to suburban areas, increase in number of buses and increasing parking areas with a capacity of more than 300 four wheelers across the city. In his manifesto he has stressed on the need to construct footpaths all along the city and has ensured that the foothpaths would be free of encroachment. He has also touched upon vanishing rivers. He has also advocated installing water meters to work out the tariff for individual houses, instead of uniform tariffs charged currently. Shirole also stressed on the need to encourage water conservation and its judicious use. Even as he said that the metro rail was welcome,Shirole said that a proper study should be made before implementing the scheme.
