NCP chief Sharad Pawar. (File Photo)NCP chief Sharad Pawar today said he pays no attention to what Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister, says about him. ”I don’t give opportunities to youngsters..? Then where did Ajit Pawar come from and who brought him to politics? Who first gave Ajit Pawar a ticket to contest elections? I can tell you about many such people…There is no need to pay attention to such comments,” Pawar said in Solapur today.
Pawar was responding to recent comments made by Ajit Pawar wherein he had said he (Sharad Pawar) should give an opportunity to youngsters as he has aged.
Further, criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pawar said, ”The Prime Minister did not address the burning issues in his speech in Solapur on Friday. If he had even made a passing reference to issues like unemployment and inflation, it would have made sense. But he sidetracked the main issues,” he said.
Pawar said that in Solapur district youths are struggling for employment. ”There is a need for industrialisation in Solapur. Several industries have shut shop. Nearly 50,000 youths from Solapur are working in Pune. If youths on such a scale need to leave home and to work in other cities, it means the issue is grave. The PM visited Solapur with the Chief Minister, but what did people of Solapur gain from it?” he said.
