School boy killed by speeding car; biker dead in ‘hit and run’ case

A speeding car knocked down a school-going boy at Kalyani Nagar, causing his death, on Saturday morning. Police have identified the deceased as Shashwat Ram Bogade (15), a resident of Kumar Trupti Society, Kalyani Nagar.

An FIR was lodged in this case at Yerwada police station. Police said they have arrested the car driver Ravikant Gaur (37) of Viman Nagar.

Shashwat was on his way to school on a bicycle when the speeding car knocked him around 8.30 am. He died on the spot. A probe revealed that the car driver had not consumed liquor, said senior police inspector Ravindra Shelke.

Meanwhile, in a hit-and-run case on the Pune–Satara highway, Amod Mahendra Nimbalkar (25), a resident of Sus, died in a road mishap around 8.30 pm on Thursday. An FIR was lodged in this case at Rajgad police station of Pune rural police on Friday.

Amod was riding a motorcycle from Udtare (Satara) to Pune when an unidentified vehicle hit him near Hotel Rajtoram Misal on the highway. Amod died in the incident. A family member of Amod said that police have not yet identified or arrested the driver of the vehicle that knocked him down.
