The Rose Society of Pune is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year by organising winter rose show on January 28 and 29 at Tilak Smarak Mandir. The show will be inaugurated by S B Majumdar,chairman,Symbiosis Society.
The show will be open from 1 pm to 8.30 pm on the first day and from 9 am on the second day. The event will display nearly 2,000 roses of different colours,shapes and sizes spread over 69 categories. First and second prizes will be given in each category. A novice category has been introduced for amateur breeders.
Eminent rosarian Veena Bhaladar will be honoured with the Laxmibai Anant Naik Silver Medal. This year,the Rose Farmer Award will be awarded to Tanaji Ganesh Toraska from Karad for his achievements in open field rose growing.
