(Express Photo)NCP (Sharachandra Pawar) leader and Karjat Jamkhed MLA Rohit Pawar campaigned for his aunt Supriya Sule in Indapur on Monday where he criticised the rival NCP faction headed by uncle Ajit Pawar and also prophesied that the rival faction will disintegrate after the results of Lok Sabha are out.
While speaking at the event, he shared that when the party split last year with uncle Ajit walking away with most MLAs to join the BJP-led Mahayuti government, his kids asked him if he was with ajoba (grandfather) or kaka (uncle).
“My daughter is 11, my son is 7 both of them are very feisty and they speak to me in first person. At that time (when NCP split), they asked me ‘Are you with ajoba or kaka?’ I was surprised, I asked them ‘why?’ They persisted, ‘Just answer the question?’ So I said that I was with grandpa. Then they said, ‘Good! Had you not been with ajoba, we would have stopped talking to you!’”
Rohit also claimed that the grave insults that have been done to Ajit Pawar’s NCP in Mayahuti in the seat sharing for the Lok Sabha polls, it’s clear that there’s very little respect for the party in the alliance. “I am sure that after the results of the Lok Sabha polls about 10-12 MLAs will go with BJP and some who are in contact with (Sharad) Pawar saheb will come back to the NCP fold. The party will become a zero after the results,” said Rohit.
Election tempo is increasing as the voting day is coming close but this is also the time when lot of interesting things gets the public’s attention and one such thing that grabbed attention is the possession of the walking stick of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Ambedkar by the Torne family of Indapur in Baramati constituency.
NCP (SP) candidate Supriya Sule met the family of late Haribhau Torne Guruji in Bawda in Indapur, who was close to Ambedkar. She visited their house and met the Torne family, where she was shown the walking stick of Ambedkar gifted to them by the national leader. The family also showed old photographs of family members with Ambedkar.
Shiv Sena candidate Shrirang Barne on Monday filed his nomination papers for Maval Lok Sabha constituency. During the roadshow held before filing of his nomination, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was present. Also present was Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to show his party support to Barne. Incidentally, in 2019, Ajit Pawar was also present during the filing of nomination papers for the Maval candidate. But that candidate happened to be his son Parth Pawar. Barne was then a candidate of the BJP-Shiv Sena. Barne went on to defeat Parth.
Meanwhile, the CM on Monday was in his elements as he was seen backing Barne, “Appa Barne aage badho, hum tumhare saath hain.”
