(File photo) Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested a restaurant staffer for allegedly placing his mobile phone inside the toilet of the establishment to record private videos of the patrons using it.
A 28 year-old-man, who visited the hotel located in the Akurdi area, lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at the Nigdi police station on Sunday.
Police have identified the arrested accused as Iranna Pandhare (22), native of Solapur. Police inspector Tejaswini Kadam, the investigating officer said, the accused worked as a waiter at the hotel.
The complainant and his friends had gone to the restaurant near Lokmanya Hospital in Akurdi for breakfast on Sunday. The complainant’s male friend went to the toilet and found a mobile phone handset inside.
After receiving information about it, a team of Nigdi police station reached the hotel for investigation. Cops seized the cell phone that was placed inside the toilet.
“We have found objectionable videos in the cell phone belonging to the accused. So, we have arrested the accused under sections of the Information Technology Act. Further investigation is on,” said inspector Kadam.
