Pune is all set to host the 4th Mhaiskar Marathi International Cinema and Theatre Awards (MICTA) to be presented by Maharashtra Kalanidhi.
The seven-day film and theatre festival beginning on September 1 will involve the process of selecting three nominations from 10 movies besides choosing the winners in the category of plays by a specially constituted jury.
The film festival will be inaugurated by film director Jabbar Patel and the theatre festival will be launched by film and theatre personality Shriram Lagoo.
Addressing the media on Tuesday,Mahesh Manjrekar,who has conceptualised the awards,said,Apart from showcasing last years best in Marathi cinema and theatre,MICTA also gives audience an opportunity to interact with the creators after every film screening and theatre performance.
The films to be screened include 72 Mile – Ek Prawas,Ajacha Diwas Majha,Anumati,Ayna Ka Bayna,Balak Palak,Dhag,Duniyadari,Investment,Premachi Goshta and Time Please,among others.
The plays to be staged include Dry Day,Du and Mee,Ekda Pahawe Na Karun,Family Drama,Get Well Soon,Proposal,Sukh Mhanje Nakki Kay Asta,Sukhanta,Thashta,Unepure Shahar Ek,among others.
The jury members that will select nominations in the movies category are Kiran Shantaram,Satish Alekar,Sanjay Mone
and Girish Joshi while Vandana Gupte,Upendra Limaye
and Suhas Joshi,will be the jury members for the theatre
category.
The awards are being supported by Mhaiskar Foundation,Maharashtra Kalanidhi,Calyx Group,Darode Jog Properties and Lab India.
The movies would be screened at City Pride and Kothrud while the plays would be staged at Yashwantrao Chavan auditorium in Kothrud. The ticket rates for the plays section are Rs 700,600 and 500 and for films Rs 400.
