A police probe has revealed that a staffer found unconscious in the premises of Sinhgad City School in Kondhwa died due to an electric shock he received while washing the school bus. Police said the deceased Santosh Pandurang Malvadkar (49) was a resident of Pisoli.
Malvadkar’s wife lodged the FIR in this case at Kondhwa police station on Saturday. Police have booked the school authorities on charges of negligence as per section 106 (3) (5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Assistant police inspector RC Usgaonkar said, Malvadkar, a staffer of Sinhgad City School, was found unconscious on October 18, and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“The reason behind his death was not known at that time. An accidental death (AD) report was lodged and a probe was initiated to ascertain the cause of death. It is reported that while washing the school bus, he received an electric shock when he came in contact with a faulty compressor and wiring. Investigation is on,” said Usgaonkar.
Police said the school authorities failed to oversee proper maintenance of the bus which led to the incident.
