Pune: 6 sandalwood trees stolen from Mundhwa, probe on

The police said the tree was worth Rs 14,500.

Unidentified persons recently stole sandalwood trees from the premises of a bungalow inside the Deccan Paper Mill and a residential society in Pune’s Mundhwa. The theft was committed between 12.30 am and 7 am Sunday.

Rahul Mehta, 35, lodged the FIR in this case at the Mundhwa police station Sunday. Mehta is the director of the Deccan Paper Mill company.

The accused persons also barged into Phase-2 of Vyankatesh Flora Society located nearby. They chopped two sandalwood trees at the society and escaped with the logs.

The police said a total of six sandalwood trees worth Rs 14,500 were stolen. Sub-inspector Dhananjay Gade of Mundhwa police station is investigating the case.
