Monday was unusually hot for the state with Malegaon in Nashik district recording a high of 44 degrees--the highest in the state.

Pune registered the season’s highest temperature on Monday with Shivajinagar observatory recording a high of 41.8 degrees. Koregaon Park, Magarpatta, Shirur all recorded above 43 degrees, making Monday one of the hottest day in the district.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday had warned of extreme heat for the next few days in Pune and surrounding regions. Lack of rain, heating up of soil and incursion of hot winds from Gujarat are supposed to result in the heat. IMD had warned of further rise in the temperature and asked people to avoid stepping out between 11.30 am and 4.30 pm.
Wadgaonsheri was by far the hottest region of Pune district with the temperature being recorded as 43.4. Koregaon Park (43.1), Magarpatta (43.3), Dhamdhere (43.3), all extremely hot. Pashan, which normally is cooler than Shivajinagar, also recorded a high of 41.8 – equal to Shivajinagar. Across the district, the temperature was between 39 and 43 degrees.
Monday was unusually hot for the state with Malegaon in Nashik district recording a high of 44 degrees–the highest in the state. Pune’s temperature was higher from its normal by over 3 degrees. This would be the second consecutive day when such high temperatures were recorded in the city. IMD has said nights would not provide any relief as night time cooling would be absent for the city.
In view of the peak election period, the present high temperature can prove fatal if being exposed to for a longer time. IMD has advised people to remain hydrated and consume non spicy and cool food. Chances of rains or a quick relief from the heat looks slim.
