A live show of Oscar-winning music composer A R Rahman was stopped in Pune Sunday after the city police reminded the organisers about the 10 pm deadline set by the Supreme Court to prevent noise pollution.

Rahman was in the city for a live concert organised by Feeding Smiles and 2BHK at The Mills on Raja Bahadur Mill Road. Organisers of the show were not available for comment despite calls and a text message.

Even as the ace musician’s performance was underway, a police officer went on stage and asked the performers to stop it, pointing to the 10 pm deadline on his watch.

A senior officer with the Pune city police said the musical event was not allowed after 10 pm in line with the Supreme Court’s order. “So a few minutes past 10 pm, the police reminded the organisers of the event to stop the live show and follow the law. The organisers co-operated with the police and concluded the event,” the officer said.
