Pune Metro conducts successful trial run from Ruby Hall to Ramwadi

The Pune Metro is set to speed up the process of extending the service from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi as it successfully completed the trial run on this 5.5km stretch on Friday. The trial run commenced at 7.30pm, encompassing a round trip from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi, which was completed in an hour.

“Throughout the trial run, all departments of Pune Metro collaborated seamlessly. The dedicated efforts over the past week ensured the flawless execution of the trial run. The trial run encompassed various aspects—testing the efficiency and safety of the tracks, electrical systems, signalling, and overall operational readiness,” said officials of Pune Metro.

Managing director of Maha Metro Shravan Hardikar said, “We are delighted to announce the successful completion of the trial run from Bund Garden to Ramwadi Metro Station… Soon, the Metro train operation will be extended from Ruby Hall to Ramwadi.”

The trial run served as a comprehensive assessment of Pune Metro’s operational expertise and adherence to safety standards. The successful execution of this trial run brings the city one step closer to experiencing the convenience of Pune Metro’s services, said Hardikar, said Hardikar.

Launched in March last year, the Pune Metro rail project is being executed in two phases.

In phase one, the Metro is being developed from Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi. However, the Metro is currently running from Pimpri Chinchwad to Shivajinagar on one route and from Vanaz to Ruby Hall Clinic on another stretch. The stretch from Shivajinagar to Swargate and Ruby Hall to Ramwadi are yet to be started and are supposed to be made operational by the end of this year, as per the new deadline.
