In Pune, this year’s procession is expected to be shorter than usual, with police urging mandals to curtail the scale. The five Manache Ganpatis — Kasba Peth, Tambdi Jogeshwari, Guruji Talim, Tulsibaug, and Kesariwada, lead the immersion procession, which typically passes through Belbaug Chowk and onto key routes like Laxmi Road and Tilak Road. These arterial roads are closed to traffic to accommodate the celebrations, which include traditional dhol-tasha pathaks, art performances, and colourful rangoli decorations, as thousands of citizens line the streets to watch.

The Pune police have announced road closures and traffic diversions for Anant Chaturdashi on Saturday, and earmarked a temporary ring road for continued traffic flow. Seventeen arterial roads will be closed to traffic, and 10 diversion points have been notified, as per a notification issued by Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), on Thursday. Parking of vehicles has been completely prohibited on 10 major road stretches in the city.
