Pune: Class 10 student dies by suicide, exam pressure suspected

A prima-facie inquiry by police revealed that the deceased teenager was anxious as she was unable to handle the pressure of studies for class 10 preliminary exams starting Monday.

A girl studying in class 10 in a prominent English medium school in Pune died by suicide by hanging herself at her home in Mohammedwadi on Friday night.

A prima-facie inquiry by police revealed that the deceased teenager was anxious as she was unable to handle the pressure of studies for class 10 preliminary exams starting Monday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone 5) R Raja said that a resident of Nyati Garden society in Mohammadwadi informed the police about the incident that took place between 7 pm and 9 pm on Friday.

Police said the teenager hanged herself from the ceiling fan at her house. A team of Kalepadal police station took her body to a hospital for postmortem. Senior police inspector Mansingh Patil said a suicide note has been recovered.

As per procedure, an accidental death report was lodged at Kalepadal police station and a probe was launched to ascertain the cause behind the incident.
