The Pune unit of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has sought directions from the ACB headquarters on a complaint seeking inquiry against retired state government officer Dilip Khedkar, father of IAS probationer Puja Khedkar, in connection to alleged disproportionate assets to known sources of income.
Dilip Khedkar, who retired from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) four years ago, unsuccessfully contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Ahmednagar as a candidate of the Vanchit Bahujan Agadi.
The report sent by Pune District Collector Suhas Diwase to the state government that facilitated Puja Khedkar’s transfer from Pune to Washim mentioned that Dilip had accompanied his daughter to the Pune Collectorate and pressured officials into giving her a specific cabin and some special facilities.
An officer from ACB Pune unit said, “In the past, we had received a complaint from a social worker, who alleged that Khedkar possessed assets disproportionate to known sources of income amassed during his government service. Last week, the complainant furnished documents supporting his allegations.”
“Meanwhile, there is an ongoing inquiry against Dilip Khedkar by the Nashik range ACB. We have written to the ACB headquarters seeking directions on whether Pune ACB should initiate the inquiry or we join the ongoing inquiry by Nashik range,” said the ACB officer.
The officer said if they get approval, the Pune ACB will initiate a probe into Dilip Khedkar’s assets. “If it is found that family members of the assessee, who do not have known sources of income, possess assets, the inquiry of these family members is also conducted. The inquiry can include summoning papers related to the assets, his questioning and even searches if required.” said another officer.
