Porsche crash: Court allows police to take custody of minor’s father in Kondhwa cheating case

Meanwhile, the 77-year-old grandfather of the minor who was granted bail in the case of the abduction of the family driver, is expected to be released from Yerwada Central Prison on Thursday after the signed order of the court in this regard was obtained by his lawyers on Wednesday.

A COURT in Pune on Wednesday allowed the Pune police to take custody of the father of the minor accused in the Porsche crash case, in a cheating case registered against him at Kondhwa police station.

Meanwhile, the 77-year-old grandfather of the minor who was granted bail in the case of the abduction of the family driver, is expected to be released from Yerwada Central Prison on Thursday after the signed order of the court in this regard was obtained by his lawyers on Wednesday.

A case was registered in the first week of June against the father and grandfather of the minor based on the complaint by a real estate businessman at the Kondhwa police station. As per the FIR, the minor’s father and grandfather, both prominent realtors of Pune, had promised Rs 1.5 crore to the complainant if he helped them settle a dispute over their land in Kondhwa in 2019. The father-son duo allegedly gave Rs 18 lakh in advance to the complainant but after he resolved the dispute and got them possession of the said land, they allegedly refused to give him the remaining amount of Rs 1.32 crore. The grandfather earlier secured bail in this case. The sessions court in Pune on Wednesday allowed the Kondhwa police to take the custody of the father, said Premkumar Agarwal, the public prosecutor in the case.

Kondhwa police said that they will take the 50-year-old father into custody after his custody in another case with the Hinjewadi police ends.

A court in Pune on Tuesday granted bail to the father and grandfather in a case, in which they were charged with the abduction of the driver who was accompanying the minor at the time of the accident, and forcing him to take the blame for the crash.

The father and grandfather, both prominent realtors, had been in Yerawada Central prison under judicial custody. With the bail granted on Tuesday, the grandfather is set to be released from prison while the father will remain in custody in the other cases registered against him. On Tuesday, Hinjewadi police took custody of the father from Yerawada Central Prison for the probe into a case registered against him in which he is charged with cheating and criminal breach of trust of 72 flat owners of a residential project in Bavdhan.

A total of six FIRs have been filed against the father since the May 19 crash including the three related to the accident. Of three related to the accident, he has now been granted bail in two with the third being the one in which he stands accused along with the minor’s mother for swapping blood samples of the minor. The three other cases are registered at Hinjewadi, Kondhwa and Chandan Nagar police stations.
