THE series of events in the run-up to the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the 145th course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) began on Monday with the inauguration of an expo of various hobby club activities of the academy cadets. This year’s expo gives a glimpse of the 75-year-long journey of the NDA, which the premier tri-services academy is celebrating in January 2024. The Expo for the Autumn Term 2023 was inaugurated on Monday by Reyman Kocchar, president of Family Welfare Organisation. The expo comprises displays from 23 different indoor and outdoor hobby clubs of which the NDA cadets are part of and is open for visitors till Wednesday. The expo also gives parents of the passing out course an opportunity to witness the creative talents of the NDA cadets. This year’s expo gives a glimpse of the journey of 75 years of the NDA, which has been inculcating jointmanship and military ethos in the young military leaders while providing them with opportunities of self-expression, creative use of their time and simultaneously honing their soft skills. The activities of the club displayed at the expo generally comprise astro-navigation, static and flying aero-modelling, weapon shooting, automotive, arts, photography, dramatics, western and classical music, dance, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, life saving skill, cycling and group of watermanship clubs which include sailing, kayaking and rowing. The President of India and the Supreme Commander of Armed Forces Droupadi Murmu will be the Reviewing Officer for the POP of the 145th course, which will be held on November 30. The convocation for the course will be held on Wednesday.
