Polio eradication award for Chavan

The Polio Eradication Leadership Excellence award will be awarded to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on World Polio Day (October 24).

Pune Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Pathak will also be felicitated on the day. While World Polio Day is observed on October 24,the function to give away the award will be held on October 25,a release issued by Rotary district 3131 said.

Vilas Pathak,polio committee coordinator,said Rotary International had initiated a campaign in 1985 to eradicate polio. The country will complete three consecutive years without a polio case on January 13,2014.
