PMC repairs 100 potholes

Taking advantage of the brief lull in rains on Thursday,the Pune Municipal Corporation managed to fill 100 potholes in the city,said Pramod Nirbhavane,additional city engineer and in-charge of roads.

Potholes have appeared almost on all city roads,due to the continuous rains lashing the city for the past many days. Citizens complained of accidents and injuries due to these potholes. Politicians and civic workers were blamed for shoddy road construction.

Civic officials claim that of the 6,000-metres stretch of roads within the PMC limits,around 4,000 metres were repaired.

“We have taken up the work on a war footing. On Thursday,stretches on Paud Road,Dhayari,Sahakar Nagar,Sinhagad Road were repaired,” he said,adding that if the sun is out on Friday,more work would be undertaken. Around Rs 9 crore has been earmarked for road maintenance work.
