PMC lodges FIR against ‘unauthorised’ school in Kondhwa

It alleged the school was unauthorised and was not registered on the government's Saral portal.

Police have filed a case against the management of Tims Taqwa Islamic Maktab and School in Kondhwa, Pune for allegedly operating without requisite government permissions.

An official from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) education department, Shankar Mandve (50), filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Kondhwa police station on Thursday.

Based on the complaint, police booked the school authorities under Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for cheating), and 34 (acts done by several persons for furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the FIR, the accused gave admissions to 18 students from grades 1 to 8 without acquiring essential approvals from concerned government bodies.

It alleged the school was unauthorised and was not registered on the government’s Saral portal. Hence, enrolled students did not get Saral IDs generated, causing problems in seeking admission in other schools.

Furthermore, certificates issued by the school were allegedly not per legal norms, thus deceiving the government and parents.

Investigating officer API Dineshkumar Patil said probe is underway and no arrests have been made yet. “It is learnt that PMC had received a complaint against the school. Further probe is on and no arrest has been made yet in this case,” he said.
