THE Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, which had registered a record tax collection of Rs 870 crore in last fiscal, has this fiscal reduced the tax relief given to women who have properties registered in their name. From 50 per cent rebate in general tax on properties which such women enjoyed, it has now been brought down to 30 per cent. However, the tax relief in general tax on properties of physically-challenged residents (50 per cent) and ex-servicemen (100 pc) remain unchanged like in the past. "We have reduced the tax relief in general tax which is given to women who have property in her name by 20 per cent. For last 12 years, such women used to get 50 per cen tax relief. Now from this fiscal, they will get 30 per cent tax relief," PCMC Assistant Municipal Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh told The Indian Express today. The PCMC administration claimed that the civic body was the only one to extend the relief in general tax to women residents. Deshmukh however said the tax relief given to ex-servicemen and physically challenged citizens will remain the same. "However, they will not have to apply afresh for claiming the relief. They will automatically get the relief. Only those who have acquired properties recently will have to apply for getting the relief," Deshmukh said. Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, in an appeal to the citizens, have urged them to avail the tax benefit on various civic schemes by June 30. In PCMC limits, there are 5,97,785 properties. "Similarly, in 2023-24 fiscal, we have set a target of collecting Rs 1000 crore tax revenue," he said. The PCMC administration said it has made arrangement for paying online tax and those who pay their taxes by June 30 will get tax relief. "Those who pay tax by June 30 through online mode will get 4 per cent relief," the civic administration said. The PCMC administration has appealed to residential societies to make an application for getting tax benefit for environment-friendly society. "Those societies who are implementing zero waste plans will get 8 per cent relief in tax. Those societies who make arrangement for electric charging of vehicles will get two per cent tax relief. Similarly, those who have set up Sewage Treatment Plan and Composting facilities will also get tax relief," the administration said.
