ATTACKING his stylenarendra modi of politics, NCP national president Sharad Pawar on Thursday said Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister he has seen who goes to different states and criticises the chief ministers of those states.
“I have heard the speeches of different Prime Ministers including those of Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. They followed a certain practice. Whichever states they visited, they never showed disrespect to the chief minister of that state. But unfortunately, Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister I have seen who goes to different states… then resorts to personal attacks on the chief minister of that state,” Pawar said during his visit to Madha area of Solapur district on Thursday. “I have never seen this kind of politics,” he added.
“When a party loses confidence, then its leaders resort to personal attacks. I am sure people will never accept such attacks, which are being witnessed in five poll-bound states. Modi will have to pay for his mistakes. No Prime Minister has done what Modi is doing. Unfortunately, the person who is resorting to such tactics is holding the reigns of the county,” he said.
Meanwhile, at a function in Baramati earlier on Thursday, Pawar said Modi has “stopped” holding discussions with him on various issues. He said the current regime has forgotten to address issues raised by MPs through discussion and by taking them into confidence.
“The rulers have created such an atmosphere that it puts Parliament’s reputation in danger. I am an MP in Rajya Sabha. The Prime Minister did not even attend Rajya Sabha for one hour in the last two sessions. The finance minister is supposed to take MPs into confidence, hold discussions with them and resolve their issues. This government has closed the door of discussion. The current regime has forgotten all this…,” Pawar said.
