Online help from IIT alumni for budding bank officers

Candidates across India appearing for the State Bank of India (SBI) probationary officers recruitment examination can get some free help in their preparations from a portal floated by a group of IIT alumni.

The portal is designed to mimic the exam interface, which gives aspirants an opportunity to get acclimatised to the exam pattern.

The portal http://www.testbook.com already offers a similar feature for several other exams.

Many students are unsure due to uncertainty over the pattern of the examination, says Ashutosh Kumar, an IIT alumnus from Mumbai. The need for the portal was felt because there was no platform available for aspirants to practise objective tests online and judge their preparedness levels.

With 1,897 posts in the reckoning, the applicants are expected to cross 20 lakh this year, making it one of the biggest examinations.

The first round is a 200 marks objective test, and this is where the portal chips in with the most help, with mock tests. There is also a 50-mark descriptive test.

Key features of the website are it is free, covers all sections pertaining to objective tests, and mock tests have been designed by banking experts.

The website has a user-friendly interface to prepare aspirants for online examination by familiarizing them, Kumar said adding that aspirants can track their performance by comparing results with aspirants from across India and a portfolio is created to assess improvement.
