One held for robbery

The police have arrested one Rajendra Sambhaji Kamthe,a history-sheeter and resident of Kondhwa Budruk,in a robbery case.

The police have arrested one Rajendra Sambhaji Kamthe,a history-sheeter and resident of Kondhwa Budruk,in a robbery case.

Police said Kamthe had — along with accomplices Irfan Jalaluddin Shaikh of Kondhwa,Feroz Altaf Shaikh of Market Yard and an unidentified person — looted a car at knife point in Kondhwa early on June 25 morning. They had also robbed two persons of Rs 30,000 in cash,silver rings,cellphones and a wallet. One of the victims,Irfan Sattar Memon,engaged in decoration work for a film producer’s function near Kolte Patil building on Undri Road,had lodged the complaint.

A police team,led by inspector Prasad Hasabnis and sub-inspector Sunil Khedekar,arrested Kamthe on June 27. During interrogation,they got the details of his three accomplices. Apart from launching a hunt for them,the police have recovered a stolen car,a stolen motorcycle,70 gm gold and Rs 1,000 from Kamthe.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) Sanjay Jadhav said Kamthe was earlier booked in 10 crimes. Investigations have revealed that Kamthe and his accomplices were involved in six crimes of house break-ins,vehicle theft and chain-snatching in various parts of the city.
