On Twitter,feedback on Modi visit lacks the usual punch

“Interesting ideas and responses from youngsters on trust deficit and ways to solve it. Looking forward to hearing more…” Modi had said on Twitter on Thursday,ahead of his Pune tour.

Modi’s tweet was termed as a favourite by 215 individuals,while it was re-tweeted by 266. These numbers are believed insignificant considering the huge popularity the BJP leader enjoys on Twitter.

“Your thoughts are a reflection of the people’s opinion in the country at large. A large number of youth voiced a demand for a change in the way the system works and some of you called for greater transparency,” Modi said on his official website in response to feedback he received,adding that he would like to share some interesting ideas he received as feedback.

The feedback Modi received from youth to his tweet has been posted on his website,which mentions opinions and reactions of hardly around half a dozen people.

“Going soft on terrorism. Misuse of government institutions… are some of the few contributing factors for trust deficit in the Nation,” reads feedback from Chandrakant Mundhe,while another netizen Shweta Tanwar,says,“No security to common people,constant fear of terrorism,poor security for women,improper job opportunities,poor healthcare facilities,poor infrastructure.”

Local BJP leader Sandeep Khardekar said Modi’s popularity among masses and even among social media was indisputable. “Almost 500 people have responded to Modi’s tweet and still counting. It is a good response. Also,there could be a possibility that the issue (Trust deficit) Modi raised before youth was somewhat difficult for them to comprehend,and therefore they did not respond to him,” he said.

Modi is scheduled to attend a public rally at BJ Medical College ground around 2.30 pm and later inaugurate the Sadhu Vaswani College of Nursing after addressing students at Fergusson College on Sunday.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson Ankush Kakde,ironically said the feedback Modi received for his Pune visit related tweet could go up overnight.

“Gujarat Chief Minister and his party have great managerial skills. There lies a great scope of manipulation behind Modi’s popularity in the cyber world. The lukewarm response he got for Pune visit on Twitter till Saturday night highlights this fact,” he told Newsline.
