The best way to destress herself is to grab a canvas and paint a beautiful landscape. Namita Shrinivas Sapre is ready to showcase her latest work of landscapes and scenery paintings on August 8,9 and 10 at Darpan Art Gallery,off Senapati Bapat Road. “I have had a flair for painting since childhood but in the course of pursuing my studies and then joining the corporate world,I could not dedicate enough time to hone this skill of painting,” says Sapre who started learning advanced techniques from artists Milind Mulick and Vilas Kulkarni a few years after completing her post graduation. It was during this period when she came across Baba Amte’s project Anandwan,that works for sustained development of women,children,the elderly,unemployed,villagers and farmers,and wanted to use her skill to do something worthwhile for the society. “I was surprised to find that the younger generation was equally involved and giving their share to help in this endeavour and so I wanted to join in as well,” says Sapre. Her paintings will be available at the gallery at reasonably low prices and the proceeds will be given to Anandwan.

Vegan Delights

Malaka Spice is launching a new vegan menu for the festival season. The menu is free of all animal products. L ike the regular menu at Malaka Spice and Malaka Street,the vegan items are inspired by South East Asian Cuisine and also vegetarian and vegan palates. The new menu includes Shravan Soya,Gulin Chilli Rings,Mun Tot and Cucumber Sailboats for starters and main course items include Mapo Doufu,Root Spiritual,Jalapeno Fried Rice,Chap Che Noodle and Crispy Qi Noodles. Dessert Specials are Vegan Choco Tart and Fruit Ramekin. The menu will be on offer till Diwali,in November.
