A year after alleged corruption in the recruitment of group C employees for the National Defence Academy (NDA) was unearthed,the Anti Corruption Bureau of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI ACB) said it has concluded the probe. In June last year,the CBI ACB had arrested Col Kulbir Singh a staff officer of the then NDA commandant Lt Gen Jatinder Singh along with Col A K Singh,a physical training officer (PTO),an establishment officer Suhas Waghmare and six others Balkishan Kanojia,Vishnu Prasad Sharma,Ramesh Gaikwad,Manoj and Dattatray Shitkal who worked as recruitment agents. CBI had said that the accused had conspired to obtain illegal gratification from applicants for 97 posts,which included lower division clerks,civilian motor drivers,cooks,gardeners,chowkidars and cleaners. The recruitment was done in May and June. Investigations revealed that the candidates were asked to only sign on the answer sheets and leave them blank. The accused then wrote the correct answers. Later,the candidates were issued appointment orders by NDA. The investigation is over as far recording the statements,searches,interrogation is concerned. More details would be brought to light before the court when we submit the chargesheet. If needed,we may call anyone for questioning, said a CBI ACB official on condition of anonymity. He,however,said no time frame could be given as to when the chargesheet will be filed. The CBI had also questioned the then NDA commandant Lt Gen Jatinder Singh for two days. The probe also revealed that majority of candidates,who had paid money for securing jobs,were from in and around Khadakwasla area where NDA is situated. They paid the agents as they too were residents of these villages. Findings *Candidates were asked to only sign on the answer sheets and leave them blank. The accused then wrote the correct answers. Later,the candidates were issued appointment orders by NDA *A majority of candidates,who had paid money for securing jobs,were from in and around Khadakwasla area where NDA is situated
