The Pune police have arrested four of the seven suspects booked for allegedly murdering 25-year-old Rahul Ravindra Nayar on the premises of Shivajinagar court,following a rivalry simmering since 2008 between two groups.
Those arrested have been identified as Sachin Chandrakant Dangat,Amol Navin Jagtap,Umesh Deshmukh and Ankush Pawar,all residents of Vikas Nagar.
Search has already been launched for other three suspects Suresh Dangat,Siddheshwar Kesappa Shelke and Rakesh Deshmukh.
Jafar Ismail Shaikh (30) of Dehu Road has lodged murder complaint. Apparently,Shaikh was arrested for allegedly manhandling and robbing a female advocate Rekha Karande on the court premises. Shaikhs family had allegedly murdered Karandes brother Kumar Dangat in 2008 for having an affair with Shamshad,sister of Jafar Shaikh.
The enmity between these two groups became more serious after Dangats murder. Members of Dangat group then murdered Ismail Shaikh,who is Jafars father.
Four months before,the suspects,who are supporters of Kumar Dangat had a brawl with Nayar.
Police said that following the rivalry; the Dangat group allegedly stabbed Nayar with a knife at the Shivaji Nagar court. He died at the Sassoon Hospital.
The Shivajinagar police produced the four suspects arrested for his murder before additional chief judicial magistrate VK Kadam on Friday. Police sought their custodial interrogation to trace their associates,recover the weapon used for crime and probe their links with organised crime syndicate.
The magistrate remanded the suspects to police custody until May 17. Senior police inspector SP Patil is investigating the case.
Meanwhile,the police arrested 11 persons,including Jafar Shaikh and detained a 14-year-old boy on charges of beating and robbing advocate Karande in the court.
Karande has alleged that suspects were carrying sharp weapons and a pistol.
They allegedly man handled her in the court and robbed her gold jewellery worth Rs 1.35 lakh. The court has remanded the eleven suspects to police custody till May 15.
