A DAY after Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol slammed the Opposition for trying to ‘defame’ Pune, the AAP Pune unit has hit back at him.
Yesterday, several people criticised the BJP government on social media after a truck fell into a ditch near the Pune City Post Office. In return, Mohol said the Opposition is defaming Pune.
The Aam Aadmi Party jumped into this debate.
“We appeal to Mohol to answer five questions,” said AAP spokesperson Mukund Kirdat in a press release.
As per the release, the AAP has put forth the questions: “One, President Droupadi Murmu herself expressed displeasure over potholes in Pune, so will you say the President is defaming Pune?”
“Two– Pune is a city of potholes, a city of traffic jams, a city of increasing pollution, a city of koyta gangs, a city of hooliganism. Who is responsible for this? Three–the issue of potholes and traffic jams has been around even before the discussion of ‘Smart City’ started. Last month you had announced that all potholes would be repaired in 10 days – have these been roads repaired? Four—in the case of potholes, it is the practice to write in the contract that the contractor will be responsible for repairs, maintenance for a few years. So why has PMC exempted contractors from work defect liability clauses? Five–in the last two-three years, it has been noted that when there is no intervention of corporators or politicians in city administration, the administration has been found wanting. Who controls the administration now? What does the triple-engine government do in Pune?” the release stated.
Kirdat said, “The Aam Aadmi Party is prepared to gherao BJP on the issue faced by aam aadmi (common citizen) of Pune. It is a matter of curiosity for us as to what stand Muralidhar Mohol and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar take on this.”
