In its golden jubilee year celebrations,starting March 20,Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) is planning to screen the movies made by its first-batch students.
Pankaj Rag,director,FTII said,The films include Imtihan,Khilone,Masoom,Anjan and Chandani Raat Ki Umar etc, adding cultural programmes will also be part of the celebrations.
Ambika Soni,minister for Information and Broadcasting will inaugurate the function and actor Dev Anand will be the chief guest.
Rag also said that FTII will host its first international film festival in September this year,which will feature movies from film schools across the world. The film festival,a first of its kinds in the country will feature films in three categories: Fiction,Documentary and Animation. In addition we will be hosting a range of seminars,cultural events,and exhibitions throughout the year, he said. FTII will also be taking films made by their students and will showcase it across the country in various cities.
Some of the students of the first batch who will be present during the event include director Subhash Ghai,Dinkar Singh,Yashpal Chowdhary,editors,Rajesh Agarwal,Rajendra Gour,actress Sudha Bedi,screenplay writer Vasu Bhagat from the batches of the year 1963,and 1964 respectively.
The construction of the new campus will start soon. The new syllabus on which both the faculty from the college as well as professionals from Mumbai have been working will be put for approval by mid-April, said Kedarnath Awati,Dean,FTII
On the expansion of the new campus Rag said that they also plan to introduce new courses very soon.
