Illegal constructions : Sena-BJP irked by frequent postponements
The NCP-Congress ruling alliance in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday once again deferred a decision on the proposal to appoint a retired High CourtJudge to inquire into the poor implementation of development plans and illegal constructions in the civic jurisdiction. The proposal was tabled by Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Zagade, who had expressed concern over implementation of a mere 35 per cent of the development plans and illegal constructions. Instead of taking a decision on the proposal, the alliance decided to call a special meeting to discuss it,which irked the Shiv Sena-BJP Opposition.
The ruling alliance has postponing a decision on the proposal unnecessarily, said corporator Ujjwal Keskar. Voting was held on whether a special meeting should be convened to discuss the proposal and the ruling alliance voted in favour of it.
The civic chief had made a detailed presentation on the proposal and now the NCP-Congress members were insisting on bringing in other services for an inquiry by the proposed committee, said Keskar.
The ruling alliance had previously postponed a decision on the proposal by 15 days.
