Motorcyclist dies after MSRTC bus runs over him

Police arrested the bus driver Milind Kamble (42) of Dharashiv under sections 106, 281, 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police sub inspector Sudhir Chowgule, the investigation officer said, the accused was driving a state transport bus from Paranda to Swargate. It collided with a motorcycle on the over bridge in Ramtekdi area, causing the death of its rider Jadhav, around 10.30 am on Friday.

In another incident, a senior citizen died after a speeding vehicle ran him over on the Navale bridge to Katraj road around 7 am on February 21. Police identified the deceased as Jagjivan Shetty (74), resident of Udupi in Karnataka. His wife lodged the first information report (FIR) at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station on Friday.

Assistant police inspector Mithun Pardeshi, investigation officer, said that the deceased was working at a hotel in Pune. “An unidentified vehicle hit him, due to which he received severe injuries and was admitted to the Sassoon hospital for treatment. But he died at the hospital. Then, after performing the last rites, his wife filed a complaint at the police station. FIR has been lodged against the driver of the unidentified vehicle and further investigation is on,” said Pardeshi.
