Morocco-based musician Marouan Benabdalla will perform at a concert organised by Poona Music Society on April 5,7 pm onwards at Mazda Hall,Camp. His relationship with the piano goes back to when he was only a toddler. Inspired by his Hungarian mother,who was a music teacher,Benabdalla started taking piano lessons at the age of four. He was admitted to Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest at the age of 13 and started training as a conductor while studying the piano with Gábor Eckhardt. His repertoire leads him from Scarlatti to 20th century composers. Benabdalla performs the works of Bach,Haydn,Schubert,Debussy and Ravel with the same passion as he performs Bartók and Rachmaninoff. He has performed in concertos with symphonic orchestras from Hungary,China,France,Italy,Romania and Morocco.

Aviv Pereira will perform at Doolallys Acoustica in The 1st Brew House,NIBM,on March 29,8.30 pm onwards. Ready with a repertoire that is inspired by the 70s,he will take one on a trip back to the good old days of rock n roll. Pereira has been performing in and around Pune for over a decade. After co-founding a number of bands during his career,he now finds his fix in performing solo. The Beatles,he declares,are one of his top influences.

On a roll

Film aspirants can learn the tricks of the trade at a filmmaking workshop to be held on March 30 and 31 in the city. Organised by Medias Cont,participants will learn basic techniques of filming on 16 mm. Students will be given equipment to make a one-minute film and each student will also make a short film. Basics of scriptwriting,frames,camera handling and 16 mm film will be covered in the class. The workshop will be held at Ameya Apartments in Bhosale Nagar,near Pune University.
