Twenty-eight-year-old Subaassh Chavaan was never a big fan of Michael Jackson. After the sudden death of the pop star,Chavaan has been showing interest in the life and times of the pop legend and has bought an audio-CD of Thriller, for the first time. The city book stores and music shops are recording a rush of people, including first-timers like Chavaan, and sale of books and CDs of Michael Jackson is going up. Chells Mathew, manager,Manneys bookstore said,People are demanding books available on Michael Jackson. The one that is selling remarkably well is Michael Jackson: The Magic and the Madness by J Randy Taraborrelli. As of now,we are left with just one copy at the store. The biography sold like hot cake at Manneys. The store manager at Landmark Bookstore,Meera Mohan, however, says that at Landmark, the sale of CDs,particularly that of Thriller,is much higher than that of the books. Sharan Biradar, senior manager at Crossword, attributes the sudden increase in sales to the non-stop reports and documentaries being flashed on TV channels since the day the singer died. In the last four days,Crossword alone sold around 100 CDs in the city. Albums like Invincible and King of Pop were so much in demand that the store had to order additional copies. This proves the impact the singer had on his fans, added Biradar. Besides the CDs,since Saturday,Crossword has sold some copies of Michael - The official & Authorized Biography of Michael Jackson by Duane Harewood. Sumit Patil,a die-hard fan,has got almost all the albums of the moonwalker. After Jacksons death,Patil was unable to resist buying something to add to his collection. Its my way of paying tribute to him. His last album was Invincible, launched in 2001. I was waiting to buy his new album, which I guess is not possible now. So I bought The Best of Michael Jackson, he said.
