Merc costlier by 2.5-4.5%
Mercedes Benz announced a price hike of 2.5-4.5 per cent for its entire model range. It will be effective from September 1. The company said exchange rate effects,higher import duties and rising input costs coupled with a host of other unfavorable factors like higher interest rates had been impacting the bottomlines,forcing them to hike the prices. Eberhard Kern,managing director and CEO of the company,said although the company was absorbing significant portions of the impact,it was not proving profitable for the firm.
Ajit Ranade to deliver BG Deshmukh lecture
Ajit Ranade,economist and founder president of Association of Democratic Reform (ADR),will deliver the second BG Deshmukh memorial lecture in Pune on Friday. Ranade will speak on the topic ‘Electoral Reforms with particular reference to criminalisation of politics’. The lecture will be held at Vishwa Bhavan Auditorium of Symbiosis Law School,SB Road,at 4.30 pm.
Wadekar is MSEDCL chief engineer
Neelkanth Wadekar has taken charge as the Chief Engineer of the Pune zone of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). He was earlier the chief engineer of the Bhandup zone of MSEDCL. A release issued here stated that Wadekar hailed from Latur and had specialised in electrical engineering. He had joined the MSEDCL at Nanded as junior engineer.
