Mentally challenged woman kills self

A 28-year-old woman,Salma Qureshi of Balgram orphanage in Yerawada,allegedly committed suicide by jumping into Mutha river from Tilak Bridge near PMC.

A 28-year-old woman,Salma Qureshi of Balgram orphanage in Yerawada,allegedly committed suicide by jumping into Mutha river from Tilak Bridge near PMC on Friday night. The body was fished out of the river Saturday morning. Police said she woman was mentally challenged and was under treatment at Yerawada Mental Hospital.

Sampat Patil,senior police inspector,Shivajinagar Police Station,said,“On Friday evening,the woman,along with three other women,had come to Laxmi Road for shopping. She was never allowed to go out alone by Balgram authorities. When the four reached the bridge on their way back to PMC bus depot,Salma jumped into the river. The three girls reported the matter.
