A special court in Pune on Friday awarded death sentence to a man for rape and murder of a minor girl in Maval taluka of Pune district. Special judge B P Kshirsagar passed the order in this regard.

The accused has been identified as Tejas Dalvi alias Dada Mahipati Dalvi. A first information report (FIR) in this case was lodged at a police station in Pune rural.

Police said the body of the victim, who was six years old, was found in the bushes near a Zilla Parishad (ZP) school in a village in Maval taluka on August 3, 2022.

Pune rural police launched a probe into the incident. Probe revealed that the girl was raped and murdered.

Based on the leads obtained during investigation, cops nabbed accused Tejas Dalvi, who was residing in the neighbourhood of the victim.

Police said Dalvi was 24 years old at the time and worked at a farm house. Police said he was allegedly fond of watching pornographic videos.
