Man held for raping, murdering 8-yr-old boy in Pune

Police Sunday arrested a man for allegedly raping and murdering an eight-year-old boy in Pune.

Police said that the accused is a native of Uttar Pradesh, currently residing in a rented room in Pune.
An FIR in the case was registered at the police station concerned Sunday based on a complaint filed by the boy’s father.

The boy had gone missing on Saturday evening following which the family members informed the local police station. An offence of kidnapping was initially lodged at the police station and search was launched for the boy.

Upon checking the footages from CCTV cameras at different locations, police found that the accused had taken the boy with him, following which he was arrested on Sunday night.

Probe revealed that accused allegedly murdered the boy after raping him and dumped his body.

Police later recovered the boy’s body and booked the man under sections 302, 364, 365, 367, 368, 377, 201 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, stated a press release issued on Monday.
