A suspect trying to rob a gold bangle from a 72-year old woman travelling in a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) bus was nabbed by co-passengers and handed over to the police on Thursday evening. The woman lodged the FIR in this case at Sahakar Nagar police station. Police said the accused Chandbabu Ali Hussain Shaikh (30) is a resident of Kondhwa Khurd, and the complainant woman is a resident of Jambhulwadi. While she was travelling from Padmavati to KK Market chowk in a PMPML bus, said the police, the accused who was also a passenger, allegedlycut her gold bangle worth Rs 40,000 using a small cutter. He then pushed the woman and tried to flee but co-passengers nabbed him and called the police. Policemen on patrolling duty arrested the suspect. Police sub-inspector Rahul Khandale said, “We have arrested him and are seeking his custody from court. A cutter and gold bangle has been recovered from him.” The accused has been booked under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code.
